DDRW Text + Display: two font families and 13 weights

DDRW Text + Display combines two font families: Display for large headings and Text for body copy, navigation and interface elements. We brought them together so an expressive headline and the everyday details of a page can work within one system.

View the collection and choose a license in the shop.

This guide covers the files included, a practical way to assign roles and the choice of a license for desktop work, a website or an application. The logo, colors and other brand elements are covered in our separate DDRW visual identity article; here we focus on the new font collection.

Two families with different roles

A heading and a field label work under different conditions. A heading introduces a subject and sets the character of a page. Body copy explains the offer, helps people compare options and supports the next action. Making every element equally expressive makes it harder to identify what matters most.

We use DDRW Display for large typography: an opening section, a section title or a short line on a cover or slide. Before using it, check your actual words: their length, line breaks, letter combinations and the space next to an image.

DDRW Text 01 is the family for paragraphs, menus, buttons, labels, cards and forms. A site can build its hierarchy within Text: a regular style for explanations and a heavier style for titles and actions. Display can remain a distinct visual accent.

This division of roles is also used in the DDRW interface. It is a starting point; type size, line spacing and text width should be chosen for your own content.

The roles of the two families: a large DDRW Display heading with DDRW Text copy, labels and button. An example composition, rather than a separate ready-made template.

What is included

This release contains DDRW Display 1.400 and DDRW Text 01 0.170. There are 13 static styles in two formats, giving you 26 font files.

The collection includes Latin and Cyrillic. For an initial comparison, try short lines such as “New project”, “Discuss the brief” and “Business website”, then their Russian equivalents: «Новый проект», «Обсудить задачу», «Сайт для бизнеса». These examples help you judge the character of the type. Your own full content still needs a separate review.

The supplied formats are TTF and WOFF2. TTF files are for installation in applications that support them. WOFF2 is a format for linking fonts on a web page, described in the W3C specification. Italic styles are not included. These are separate static font files, rather than a single variable font.

How to build a pairing for your page

Start with one real block: a heading, two paragraphs and an action. For example, use Display for “Business website”, Text to explain the service and Text again for the “Discuss your project” button. This lets you evaluate the pairing with content a visitor will actually use.

Then check four things in order:

  1. Hierarchy. Size, weight and placement should make it clear which element is the heading, which explains it and which invites an action.
  2. Length. A short cover headline and a long service name may need different line breaks. Compare the English and Russian versions if your product is bilingual.
  3. Everyday content. Review several paragraphs, numbers, prices, contact details and field labels. These details matter more than a single attractive word.
  4. A narrow screen. Check heading wraps, the space taken up by a button and whether text lines become too cramped.

For a first composition, choose one style for the heading and another for body copy, then add a separate weight for actions. Add the other weights when they have a specific role, such as a heavier card title or emphasis within a paragraph.

Which license to choose

All three options deliver the same archive. The permitted use differs. Receiving WOFF2 files with a Desktop license does not by itself permit you to link them on a website. Receiving TTF files with a Web license does not replace a license for independent desktop work.

Independent uses require the corresponding licenses. For example, a design team's desktop work and font embedding on a website are licensed separately. Identify the individual or organization receiving the rights in the order. For a website or application, include the domain or application name in the order comment.

Choose a license by where the font files will be used: work computers, a website or an application. Each option has its own terms.

This is a one-time purchase with a perpetual, non-exclusive license while its terms are observed. There is no subscription. The purchase does not promise future versions, additional styles or updates. The full version 1.0 terms are shown for the selected option on the collection page; review them and the current price before paying.

What happens after purchase

After payment is confirmed, the files and selected license become available in the order. Download and keep the archive, order number and details of the license purchased. The package contains both font families, instructions, CSS and the terms of use.

If you are buying for a client, decide in advance who will be named as the licensee and where the files will be used. For desktop work, use the TTF files; for website embedding, use WOFF2 files with a Web license.

Before buying, check three points: whether the letter samples suit your project, whether four Text styles and nine Display styles cover your needs, and whether the chosen license matches your intended use. If you need a different number of users, websites or applications, discuss it with DDRW before use.

Open DDRW Text + Display in the shop to view the samples, select Desktop, Web or App and purchase the collection for your project.
